Facebook is an online social networking service.The
‘Facebook’ name came from an expression
for the directory given to students at some American universities.Facebook was
founded by Mark Zuckerberg in February 2004.On these days,most of us have been
exposed to facebook since we were young but not many of us have been using facebook to its fullest.Facebook has both
advantages and disadvantages to a person and community.
The
advantages of facebook is it enables people to gain knowledge without limits
and meet new friends.Firstly,users of facebook must register before they can
used it.After they create a personal profile they can add numerous people to be
their friends.Besides that,they also can exchange messages and receive news
feed when their friends updated their profile.In addition,they also may join
same enthusiasm other users group organized by workplace,shool or college.So,they
become more knowledgeable as they forced to keep up with the latest information
in the facebook.
Besides
that,facebook improves our awareness of the current events
worldwide.Nowadays,we need not only rely to newspaper or television for news
but we can also access facebook for the current news that happens around the
world.Other than improving our general knowledge,knowing what is going on
around us will also help us socialize with others by discussing the current
issues with our friends on facebook.Moreover we can exchange information with
them.Hence,facebook enables people to have easy access on the current news.
In
contrary,facebook can affect activity and relationship of people in many
ways.Facebook is available on many devices such smartphones,computers and
tablets.Hence,it allows the users to stay in touch with friends,families,relatives
and other people wherever they are in the world.This can increased antisocial
attitude because people are not directly communicating with each other.This
also can disrupt one’s relationship because there is not enough communication
and understanding between each other.
Furthermore, It is quite
distracting if not used within limits, for an example , a person may have the
habit of updating his online status twice an hour. This is the reason that you
will find many people stick to their mobile phones and laptops to check social
networking websites frequently.Moreover,the more time
people spent on facebook, the more likely they were to develop eating disoders such as anorexia, bulimia,
and extreme dieting.This can effects a person’s health.
In
conclusion,It is difficult, yet very important to find a right balance between
entertainment and daily life. Use Facebook positively to share your thoughts
and keeping yourself aware of the surroundings, but do not cross the safe
distance. Try to catch friends weekly or monthly rather than updating them
moment to moment.
